Mike. If you're willing to spend some money, I have found that there are two additional installers that that can be throwing into the mix....

The first is InstallAware

http://www.installaware.com/

We've been researching installers, and since we're coming from the Wise Installer direction, we've found this is our best avenue to go down. Simply because it will convert Wise Installation scripts over to its own scripting language. You even get a significant amount of money off by using the competitors discount. (all you need is our serial number for our copy of Wise). Even though Wise as a product is long gone. Which is sad, because it was really a great product.

The second we looked at is InstallAnywhere

http://www.installanywhere.com/

InstallAnywhere is a product built by Flexera Software. They are the company that sells InstallShield. Flexear came out with InstallAnywhere because they were losing customers in droves because InstallShield is a hideous product (moo). It's very intensive as far as their coding syntax.

I've looked at innosetup as well. It's a great product, but I tend to be a fan of products that are backed by a company. Yes, Open Source has a place in the market place, but there are so many failures in Open Source market. Or products that have just been abandoned. (Just go look at some of the products out there that haven't had any work done on them in years). When you have a proprietary product, you have a team of people that have a strong desire to make a product successful.

Anyway, I hope this information helps some.

Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for your response. I have no problem spending money on quality tools. I actually donated to the InnoSetup guys.

I'm in the middle of converting a 20 year old program. It's taking me much longer than I'd hope. I'm using Delphi which allows for one code base to compile for both Windows and Mac. Have you come across an installer that will create a single click install for both Windows and Mac?

That's interesting that you say that Mike. I just purchased the profession copy of Delphi X8 back in April along with the maintenance agreement. I'm looking to getting my feet wet there. So you're saying you can deploy a Delphi app to both Windows and Mac? We should probably start another thread on that.
